About

An engineer who sees the whole system.

I’m George, a senior full-stack software engineer based in Norfolk, working remotely in the UK.

Portrait of George Foster

Practical engineering, from concept to production.

I’ve spent more than a decade building, modernising, and supporting web applications. I started as an apprentice developer and grew into roles spanning full-stack development, operations, technical project management, and production ownership.

Today I work across a B2B platform that reaches from SQL Server and Snowflake through C# services to React, Vue, TypeScript, and Next.js applications. I also lead incident remediation work where broad domain knowledge, calm decisions, and clear communication matter as much as the eventual code change.

I use agentic AI throughout the delivery lifecycle: exploring ideas, planning work, investigating systems, implementing changes, and preparing them for review. The output still passes through the same automated checks, protected branches, and human review as any other production change.

My approach is pragmatic and deliberate. I focus on solving the core problem well, while keeping software clear enough to adapt and recording worthwhile improvements for later without losing sight of the immediate goal.

Outside work, I’m a father of two. Family life keeps practicality, patience, and adaptability firmly rooted in the everyday—not only in the way I approach software.

What I bring

  • End-to-end ownership from requirements to production support.
  • Technical leadership grounded in hands-on delivery.
  • Clear communication with technical and business stakeholders.
  • Modernisation of legacy systems and development practices.

Alongside product engineering, I design, build, host, and maintain custom websites for small businesses, managing the complete delivery from the first conversation through launch and ongoing support.
